Since 1987, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, NewYork-Presbyterian, and the New York State Psychiatric Institute have partnered with our Washington Heights and Inwood neighbors through the Medical Center Neighborhood Fund (MCNF). This employee-led initiative supports more than 60 community-based organizations working across Northern Manhattan to address critical social and health-related needs.

Through annual grantmaking, MCNF supports nonprofit partners providing essential services such as food access, housing stability, youth development, after-school and summer programming, mental health support, childcare, and services for older adults and families. These organizations play a vital role in strengthening community health and addressing the social factors that influence well-being.

MCNF is managed by dedicated staff volunteers from across our institutions who review grant applications and conduct annual site visits. This hands-on approach helps ensure that funding is responsive to community priorities while fostering strong, long-term relationships between our institutions and local partners.

Together with our community partners, MCNF advances a shared commitment to community health, trust, and neighborhood well-being. We invite you to learn more about how the fund works and explore opportunities to donate, volunteer, or engage with our partner organizations.

Donations to the Medical Center Neighborhood Fund are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
