ACComPLISHED Workshop Sparks Futures in Health for NYC Students
Sponsored by the Department of Neurology and led by Kevin Yang, a student at the College of Dental Medicine, this free triannual program offers three months of training that equips New York City high school students with essential public health knowledge and hands-on clinical skills.
On August 2, ACComPLISHED welcomed 192 students in person and 111 via Zoom for a full-day workshop that combined rigorous clinical training with engaging, interactive learning. In partnership with Dilenny Roca-Dominguez, Director of the Columbia Center for Injury Science and Prevention and a trainer from the CD-REACT, students learned to administer Narcan and perform CPR.
The day also featured creative activities such as Medical Charades and Kahoot, designed to reinforce complex topics in accessible, memorable ways. By pairing skill-building with interactive engagement, ACComPLISHED not only prepares students to save lives but also creates a shared experience that fuels the program’s growth through word of mouth.
This distinctive blend of academic rigor and creativity highlights ACComPLISHED’s impact in cultivating the next generation of informed, confident public health advocates. Learn more about the ACComPLISHED program.
