Music, Students and Orchestrating Dreams
Traditionally, the holiday season is a time to give back. Following this practice, students from the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons (VP&S) Musicians’ Guild hosted a benefit concert on behalf of a community based-organization, Orchestrating Dreams. Through their WHIN program, Orchestrating Dreams provides a music education pipeline from birth through adulthood.
In support of the organization, the musical trio, which included Cory Chang, VP&S Class of 2021 (piano), Patricia Ho MD/PhD Candidate VP&S Class of 2026 (cello), and Lillian Liao VP&S Class of 2022 (violin), performed works by Beethoven, Schoenfield, and, Ravel, followed by a reception.
Andrea Profili, Executive Director stated, “Lillian Liao, Patricia Ho, and Cory Chang embody the spirit of model citizen musicians who strive to make a difference in the world. On behalf of Orchestrating Dreams we are very grateful and inspired by the dedication of the trio; thank you for being role models to our community of Washington Heights and Inwood.”
The VP&S Musicians’ Guild is the umbrella organization for musical events at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
Orchestrating Dreams is a past recipient of the Medical Center Neighborhood Fund.
