Late Night Science Brings Neuroscience to the Community

Columbia University Neuroscience Outreach (CUNO) engages the public with its Late Night Science seminar series, translating complex neuroscience research into accessible, interactive discussions. Led by graduate students, these monthly events also include lab tours, offering participants a first-hand look at scientific discovery and direct engagement with researchers.
In March, the event Blood on the Brain drew 66 attendees, including 53 students, as Ph.D. student John Rinald presented his work on the blood-brain barrier and its link to strokes. Through a combination of engaging talks and hands-on exploration, participants gained a deeper understanding of cutting-edge neuroscience and its real-world implications for health. By making science approachable and interactive, Late Night Science fosters public curiosity, inspires the next generation of scientists, and strengthens Columbia’s role as a community-centered research institution.
