Academy of Community and Public Service Class '24-'25

Columbia University Irving Medical Center recently celebrated the newest members of the Academy of Community and Public Service during a heartfelt induction ceremony at the Faculty Club. The evening brought together colleagues, family, and community partners to honor faculty whose work embodies Columbia’s mission to advance health, well-being, and quality of life in northern Manhattan and beyond. The room was filled with warmth, gratitude, and admiration for those whose service continues to make a lasting difference.

Guests heard from CUIMC leadership, including Katrina Armstrong, MD; James McKiernan, MD; Kathleen Sikkema, PhD; and Dennis Mitchell, DDS, who praised the honorees’ leadership and impact. Their collective efforts—from expanding access to care and advancing environmental health research to providing compassionate services for vulnerable populations—reflect the power of partnership and purpose. As Olajide Williams, MD, shared in closing, “Health is not just about medicine, but about partnership, dignity, and commitment to those we serve.” As Olajide Williams, MD, shared in closing, “Health is not just about medicine, but about partnership, dignity, and commitment to those we serve.”  Congratulations to all the inductees and their families.
